内  容  提  要

本文以盎格鲁——撒克逊时期基督教在英国早期传播为研究对象，对这一时期基督教在英国的传播情形作了初步探讨，并进而深入分析了基督教传入不列颠后，是如何调整适应盎格鲁——撒克逊人原有的文化传统并与之相融合及对早期英国文化变迁的影响。

第一章主要论述罗马——不列颠时期英国的宗教信仰与基督教传入情形。随着罗马人的到，基督教也在这一时期传入了不列颠岛。

第二章探讨了盎格鲁——撒克逊时期基督教在英国的传播情形。盎格鲁——撒克逊人的入主，使不列颠几乎由文明社会重归野蛮时代，在宗教信仰上是一种原始的多神教。同时，罗马天主教会由南向北传播，爱尔兰基督教会由北向南传播，并最终由西奥多完成了英格兰教会的组织统一工作。

第三章深入分析了基督教和日耳曼两大文化传统的并存与融合问题。首先是早期基督传教士们接受并改造、利用原有的宗教信仰场所和形式，由上向下推广基督教。其次分析了圣徒崇拜对英国王权政治的影响及在人民群众中的传播，使基督教深入人们的日常生活而促进了两大文化传统融合。

第四章主要探讨了基督教对英国早期社会发展的影响，表现为积极和消极两个方面。

Abstract

By using the method of history and sociology ,this thesis mainly studies how Christianity spread in Anglo-Saxon England . What is more , the thesis also deeply analyses how Christianity adapted to the primal religion in the early Britain and how they bled into each other .

   The chapter one discusses the primal religion and the dissemination of Christianity in the Rome-Britain period .It introduces the social situation after Rome invaded Britain ,and points out that with the Rome coming, the Latin culture began to spread in Britain and brought it into civilization .Then the thesis analyses the primal amalgamation between the primal religion and the early Christianity at that time.

   The chapter two investigates the dissemination of Christianity in Anglo-Saxon time .Firstly, it introduces the social situation in Britain after the Anglo-Saxon’s coming. Britain almost went back into barbarous period .The society developed slowly .Secondly ,it discusses the dissemination of Christianity during that period .

   The chapter three  mainly analyses how the two traditions ,the Germanic religious culture and Christianity , amalgamated into each other and slowly became a single whole .There are two aspects: The first ,Christian missioners worked hard to preach Christian doctrines ;The second ,saint worship brought great influence on the whole society, especially on the popular religion. It promoted the amalgamation of the two religions.

   The chapter four investigates the impact of Christianity on the development of the whole Britain society .The influence primarily reflects two points: the positive and the passive. At last it points out that Christianity did not be spread completely in Britian during that period.
